Mom and Grandma Post By: Mom and Grandma

Message: October 2006, my mother was diagnosed with
colon cancer that spread to the liver. By the
time they caught it, it was too late for them to
cure her. She fought for a year and 5 months,
but didn't win. She passed away March 2008 and
we had her service the night after Relay for Life.
It was really hard to deal with because
everything i looked at reminded me of her. I
thought that my life couldn't get any worse, but i
was wrong. My grandma was diagnosed July
2008 with the same type of cancer my mother
had died of only 4 months earlier. The past 2
years have been nothing but fighting cancer
everyday of our lives. Its the worse feeling in
the world seeing someone you love suffer and
knowing you can't do anything to ease their
pain. Both my mother and grandmother have
been inspirations for me and they taught me
that no matter how rough my life seems, i have
nothing to complain about because i'm healthy.
God bless all people who have been touched by
cancer, whether they had it themselves or if
they know someone who does. Keep fighting
everyone, because together we can kick
cancer's ass.

My uncle was diagnosed with multiple myeloma three years ago. My mom spent a lot of time traveling back and forth to Chicago, where my uncle lives. I felt guilty wishing she were at home with me when my uncle needed her more.
